Jethro Rothe-Kushel
JETHRO ROTHE-KUSHEL is a Los Angeles based director and producer of motion pictures, television, and new media. His work communicates the range of human experience with humor, fear, desire, empathy, luxury, and ultimately love. DIRECTOR. As a director, Rothe-Kushel began his career with a documentary about homelessness in downtown Los Angeles which screened to critical acclaim at festivals and social issues conferences around the world. He went on to direct projects in Spain, Mexico, and Brazil as well as award-winning music videos for MTV. FILM & TV DEVELOPMENT. He served as a creative executive for Torn Sky Entertainment and worked in tv & film development helping emerging writers out of graduate film programs at AFI, USC, UCLA, Columbia, and NYU. He went on to develop material with director Peter Care (DANGEROUS LIVES OF ALTAR BOYS, "Six Feet Under"), writer Robert Goodman ("Batman Beyond", "Superman") and Garry Hart, the former president of tv production for Paramount Studios. He has successfully pitched projects to indy companies and cablers as well as ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, Sony Pictures & Paramount. PRODUCER. As a producer, Rothe-Kushel has six 35mm features to his credit. He has worked with Ron Howard, Bennett Miller (CAPOTE), James Toback, Brett Ratner, Danny Boyle (SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE), Spike Jonze, Gus Van Sant, Warren Beatty, Michael Sheen, Lindsay Lohan, Cheech & Chong, Deepak Chopra, Melissa Etheridge, Hugh Hefner, Buck Henry (THE GRADUATE), Tarsem, Gary Busey, Sarah Silverman, Camilla Belle, and Scarlett Johansson. Most recently he supervised the LA production of the top of the broadcast for the 81st Annual Academy Awards. PIONEER OF NEW MEDIA. In addition to his work in traditional film & tv, Rothe-Kushel has been a pioneer of new media since the 90s. He was among the first in the field to monetize internet-based viral content, and has successfully developed, produced and deployed online content for small businesses as well as Fortune 500 Companies. COMMUNITY LEADER. As a community leader, Rothe-Kushel works with several non-profits including the Liberty Hill Foundation, Courage Campaign, and Brave New Films. He currently serves as the President of the Dartmouth Club of Los Angeles and Dartmouth Alumni in Entertainment & Media Association. He is on the board of directors of Ivy Entertainment and the California Empowerment Congress and is an active member of the Producer's Guild of America.
